California Country Ranch is located in Lincoln, California. Sheri Minkner is the award-winning owner of this beautiful establishment.
Sheri’s Silkies are known far and wide for winning numerous awards at the California State Fair.
California Country Ranch shows they are making a difference (M.A.D.) as they show a competitive spirit while valuing the health and safety of their beautiful chickens.
Sheri encourages every chicken raiser, new and old, to always ask questions because you can always learn more to make your poultry's lives better.
Breed Specialties: Silkies, Satins (Sizzles), & Cochins in both large fowl & bantam.
Sheri helped start the Satin breed and has been working on the breed for over 30 generations. Her favorites are the Satin and Silkie breeds, and she enjoys sharing them because they are so cute. Although they are not great egg-layers, they make great pets!
Favorite Chicken (don’t tell the others!): Sheri’s frizzled Silkie boy, Buddy, is well-loved for his tendencies to dance on command and cuddle in necks. Buddy has even enjoyed camping trips with them!
Sheri likes photographing her chickens so that she can share their unique appearance. She occasionally dresses them up, making the pictures one of a kind, fitting her animal's unique personalities! You can find some of Sheri’s great chicken photography on her Facebook Page.
Sheri is a huge advocate for roosters. She feels that if chicken lovers take the time to understand their behavior and instilled proper training, they'd have a chicken that would be suitable to keep in the flock, and can really contribute to a role that's important in the chicken world, not to mention experience a burst of a personality.
Sheri also enjoys taking her chickens to convalescent homes so she can share her silkies and satins with those living there, bringing smiles to all. She hasn't been able to do this as much during quarantine and is looking forward to doing it more often when possible.
